Both. There's something so raw about that woman, it hurts.
Raw indeed. I've referenced in a past entry that she's experienced a life marred with enduring sadness and brokenness. That said, she's also quite tough--very acerbic at times. I've seen her give the bird to the camera a la Johnny Cash. She's certainly not demure; maybe even a bit femme fatale.
This song is about a typical broken relationship, but it's the sound, the vibe that I think sets it apart. Just a great tune.
